A friendship & information network
A place of beauty & joy
I am delighted to introduce you to the Worth Abbey Pilgrims – our network for the friends of Worth Abbey. The mission of the Pilgrims can be summed up as friendship with each other in the love of Christ: a friendship which overflows into an outreach to others and into service to our wider community, in and around Sussex and beyond.
The Abbey Pilgrims aim to support the mission of the monks of Worth Abbey, offering a warm welcome in the Benedictine tradition of hospitality to those who know us well and equally to those who are discovering Worth for the first time. Belonging to the Pilgrims is a great way to make new friends, to stay in touch with what is happening here, and to become involved in a range of activities at Worth Abbey throughout the year.
Our community of Worth Abbey Pilgrims is a friendship founded upon faith, prayer and service: a wonderful combination which enhances the life of our monastery and the life of each Pilgrim. I hope that you will join us soon.

Events for all
There is nothing quite like experiencing Worth for yourself. Over and above the activities that happen as part of daily life at the Abbey, such as retreats and the religious offices, Worth Abbey Pilgrims organises events such as Easter celebrations, special Masses, the Advent Carol Service, guided walks around the Worth estate, lectures, picnics, and lots more. A key tenet of the Benedictine ethos is the practice of hospitality – so these events are open to everyone: both those very familiar with Worth and those who are nothing more than curious!
Wherever possible, we offer child-friendly activities – and we also hold dog-friendly events too.
On a Journey Together
Since the founding of the monastic community in 1933, many have been drawn to the stunning location and special atmosphere of Worth. There are people all over the world who feel an attachment to this place. It is not just the beauty of the location or the church building or the facilities that creates such strong attachment – there is a spiritual pulse running through Worth that attracts people to it and enlivens faith.
You are welcome here to learn, worship, pray or to be silent. There are plenty of opportunities to be an active Pilgrim if you wish, at whatever level suits you – be that helping at an event, spending a couple of hours working in the garden or joining the Abbey Choir. All activities and events offer an organic way to connect with others, build friendships and deepen in faith.
